"This piece is a larger version of a study I did on location in western France last spring. It was a cloudy day and I spotted a fox walking outside the fenced area of the nearby sheep. The sheep had been brought a fresh pile of hay to tide them over till the grasses were tall enough graze on."

Trijsten Leach grew up in California's Santa Cruz mountains and gained an early appreciation of the landscape. That love and appreciation of the natural world brought him to study art in Hawaii at Brigham Young University Hawaii.

After graduating Leach worked in a couple of non-creative fields for seven years before being drawn back to art. In 2017 Trijsten committed himself to creating art full time through landscape painting.

Since then Trijsten has participated in many shows and competitions, as well as winning awards, including 1st place at the Driggs Idaho Pleinair Competition. Leach sells his work in a number of Utah galleries. He lives with his wife and three children in Utah along the Wasatch mountain range.
