Framed Size: 21” x 18”

Utah artist McKenzie S. Paxton strives to capture beauty through a balance of impressionism and classicism in her oil paintings. She draws stylistic inspiration from John Singer Sargent, who masterfully painted both portraits and landscapes. Similarly, McKenzie is building an art career based on broad mastery. Living in Utah, McKenzie draws inspiration from the local landscape, which has led to an appreciation of natural beauty anywhere she travels. Though her focus is mainly painting landscapes en plein air, she admires how figures can turn a landscape into a powerful symbolic narrative.

McKenzie has been greatly influenced by contemporary artists she has studied under, Del Parson and J. Kirk Richards. McKenzie spent two years as an apprentice for Linda Curly Christensen painting landscape murals for LDS temples. Working with Linda is where her love for landscape painting really grew.

McKenzie’s hope is to create artwork that brings joy and beauty into the home or space where her art will dwell.
