Key Visual Features
  • Body & Handles: It features a bulbous body with ornate, animal-themed handles, often described as dragons or chimeras.
  • Decorative Reliefs: The main vessel is decorated with circular cartouches or panels depicting scenes of figures (often scholars), landscapes, or birds in relief.
  • Base: The piece rests on a stylized tripod or four-legged stand, which frequently incorporates traditional motifs such as elephant heads or leaf-like shapes.
  • The patina and depth that you find on aged brass pieces, from bookends to candlesticks to paperweights, cannot be replicated in new finds. There's something about the weight and authenticity of a real antique brass piece that just brings so much soul to a home. These pieces are popular and becoming harder to find, but once you find them, you'll never want to let them go.
  • All vintage items have some evidence of wear which is part of their charm. The history and soul of the piece are in its handmade nature.
May have minor imperfections due to aging.
