I did this study in preparation for the full version of this painting, that was included in my solo show at the Fox Shop last year. Last spring I had the opportunity to spend a day up in the Mendip hills during lambing season. I painted a number of paintings that day and took lots of reference photos. This was one of the scenes that I knew I wanted to recreate as soon as I got home.
