About the artist:
Édouard Le Saout (1909–1981) was a French painter known for his atmospheric landscapes and city scenes. He lived and worked in Le Croisic, Brittany, where he maintained a studio and gallery. His work focused primarily on three regions: Brittany, Collioure in southern France, and Paris. Le Saout became particularly known for his lively views of Paris, including Montmartre, the banks of the Seine, Notre-Dame and everyday street scenes. Working mainly in oil, his paintings are characterized by expressive brushwork, rich texture and a distinctly French post-Impressionist atmosphere.
