Artist Statement:
Raised behind the Iron Curtain, Eva Koleva Timothy learned early on to internalize a sense of creative freedom and enthusiasm in a very bleak and oppressive environment. She never had a camera growing up, but was still constantly taking pictures in her mind.
Every detail, she recalls, which spoke to life's beauty, its wonder and the reminder of a world beyond that great gray Communist curtain, was captured in vivid mental detail and would later become the source of much of Eva's artistic inspiration.
Now a distinguished fine art photographer in the U.S. and a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, Eva's photographs are included in a variety of public, corporate and private collections including the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Oxford University, and the Museum of Fine Art Houston.
Her debut monograph, Lost in Learning: The Art of Discovery, won First place in the PX3 People's Choice Award in Paris and she was a finalist for the Julia Margaret Cameron Award in 2010. This beautiful monograph linking the genius of the Renaissance with our modern day, is part of the collections of Victoria & Albert Museum, The Biblioteque Nationale de France, The British Library, The George Eastman House, and the Library of Congress Case book Collection.
As a corporate and keynote speaker, Eva readily captures the imagination of her audiences with her infectious enthusiasm and her unique perspective on freedom, innovation and the creative life.
